One of the most known and appreciated artists in Italy and abroad, Renzo Buttazzo lives and works inside his home-workshop situated in the countryside between Cavallino and San Cesario. His handmade furnishings, sculptures, and lamps come after years of experimentation in the Lecce stone, which the artist models as it were clay. Years of nature study, always looking for “reaching the same balance and alchemy of elements that only nature itself can create”.
Circular lines, winding waves, organic forms, and sweet roundness are the peculiar elements of Renzo Buttazzo’s sculptures.
“First you know the breath of the stone, and only then can you listen to it”: this is the core idea of Renzo Buttazzo’s art and sculptures. "Use the hands" is the concept which guides his artistic proposal; while are balance, lightness, simplicity and softness his bedrocks.
During the sculpture lessons, people will have the chance to work on their own block of stone and free their creativity, supported by the artist. The art of stone requires just a few tools and a comfortable atmosphere.
The workshop – for groups of minimum 5 to maximum 10 participants – consists of 6 lessons of 4 hours each, during which the participants will be given the necessary materials and tools to sculpt the Lecce stone.
Costs and location must be agreed together with the artist.
