Pasticceria Natale is the undisputed reign of the traditional pastries made in Salento.
The wise combination of tradition, innovation and creativity is the main ingredient of Natale’s specialities, which are meant to satisfy the hardest-to-please clients.
Pasticciotti leccesi, fruttoni, glazed dry figs, almond brittles (inspired to the famous cupeta salentina), mustazzoli, pasticcini Puglia (with almonds coming from Ceglie Messapica), quince marmalade, pralines, pastries made of almond pasta, Africans and spumoni: these are only a few examples of the products Natale’s daily makes, by using an accurate selection of mainly local ingredients.
In addition, Natale’s produces original pastries such as the ‘Nfocacatti, inspired to the traditional sweet glazed bagels, the Panterrone Salentino, with dry figs, almonds, oranges, lemons and tangerines, the Torta Salentina and Tortino del Duca, both made of sweet and bitter almonds, sugar, eggs and lemon peel, and both filled with a pear and quince compote.
The lovely owners of the pastry shop, Mrs and Mr Natale, may organize creative workshops, where they will teach you how to prepare two typical products: the original pasticciotto leccese (a shortcrust pastry with custard) and rustico (a puff pastry disc filled with béchamel sauce, tomato sauce, mozzarella, a pinch of pepper and nutmeg). Inside the workshop, you will watch closely the preparation of both products, and then taste them.
