Why is it important to eat seasonal fresh fish for a balanced diet? The Ionian-Salentino C.A.G. will try to answer this question – where C.A.G. stands for Coastal Action Group – during a cooking show entitled “Every fish has its own season”, scheduled September 4, at 7 p.m., in Piazza San Demetrio in Galatone.
The cooking show is the first of four events within the same communication project called “I love G.A.C.: Great Authentic Cooking”, created and carried out by the Gruppo di Ricerca Dedalos of Lecce for the Ionian-Salentino C.A.G. The aim is to increase knowledge about the typical food, traditions, culture, arts and crafts of the coastal area that includes the towns of Porto Cesareo, Nardò, Galatone and Gallipoli (the members of the C.A.G.).
The event will start at 6 p.m. with the opening of the “Info Point C.A.G.” pavilion, where the C.A.G. delegates will distribute brochures and leaflets about the institutional activities. Outside the pavilion, a group of local fishermen and chair-menders will hold a tutorial on how to make sailing knots and small fish traps, and how to repair damaged nets, while a couple of women will teach people how to embroider. The cooking show dedicated to fish seasonality will start at 7 p.m. People will be thus invited to taste the fish-based food prepared by the chef.
During the cooking show an expert biologist will illustrate the fish seasonality chart.
